Unless otherwise agreed as part of a bespoke package all new residents are provided with 10 hours of direct support each week as standard. The focus of which is to support residents to complete our bespoke independence package entitled FOUNDATION program.
Weaved thematically throughout our FOUNDATION program are targeted sessions focusing on:
-
Education and future career.
-
Physical and mental health and wellbeing
-
Young people’s rights and entitlements.

On arrival, new residents are allocated a bedroom. Our bedrooms are self-contained and fitted with keycode locks, which prevent unnecessary worry and costs, when room keys are misplaced. Our rooms are clean, bright, and comfortable.

Bedroom 1 - Large room with big bay window towards the road.
Each bedroom has a mains wired smoke detector, double electrical sockets, and overhead lighting. Bedroom radiators have thermostatically controlled heating, enabling the resident to control the temperature of their own room. Bedrooms are fitted with FD30 fire doors and intumescent strips as well as fire extinguishers, which are located nearby.
We take pride in the standard of accommodation offered and work hard to ensure that standards remain high. Communal areas are cleaned daily and as part of the conditions of being able to stay with us we expect young people to maintain the standard of their bedrooms. We provide cleaning checklists and undertake room cleanliness checks on a weekly basis. We undertake regular rooms checks to ensure that there are no banned items on the premises.

Bedroom 2 - A large bedroom located between the first bedroom and the staff office.
We do not allow drugs, alcohol, or weapons on the premises and, to minimize risk, we undertake security searches of young people before leaving and entering the property. Banned items are reported and handed over to the police. Gyan Mudra also operates a strict no smoking policy inside the property for both staff and residents. There is a designated cigarette smoking area in the garden. However, our staff always use diversionary approaches to discourage young people from smoking at all where possible.
All residents are provided with a welcome pack on arrival – the contents of which are tailored to the needs of each young person and equipped to the value of £30.00. Our welcome packs typically include:
-
Crockery / Cutlery
-
Towels / bedding
-
Toiletries.
Residents share a bathroom with bath and overhead shower, handbasin and toilet. Residents are encouraged to leave the bathroom in the way that they found it, so that it remains clean for the next person.

Kitchen
Outside there is a seating area with outdoor seating and a small room with laundry facilities. There is an outside washing line on which residents can hang their drying washing.
CCTV facilities cover the front door, the inner porch, the communal hallway, the kitchen, and the backdoor area. At Gyan Mudra, we also have a ring video doorbell. These facilities enable us to view people approaching or leaving the property before we answer the door.
